Making An Outdoor Scene Card But I Can't Go Outdoors

Even though we're all stuck (safe) at home, for now, there are some small joys that can still help ease the anxiety (boredom). For example, I made this cute outdoor scene card for my boyfriend.

I started off by using the Critters at the Dog Park stamp set by Lawn Fawn, and I also pulled in a little flower from the Flamingo Together stamp set for the dachshund's hair. Making a scene card is a fun way to use all the little bits and pieces that come with stamp sets like this. They give you a lot of images to fill up the scene with.

I coloured all the images with my Copic markers. When you're creating a scene card it can be tough to colour coordinate all the little pieces. One solution is to try and use all the colours of the rainbow. This will make sure everything goes together once you assemble your card.

I used Distress Oxide inks in Lucky Clover and Salty Ocean to create the background. These are quite dark colours, but if you pounce some of the ink off your blending tool before applying it to your card front, you can achieve a much lighter tone. This is a great way to get more use out of your darker ink colours.

To add more interest to the grass, I used the grass stamp  from the same stamp set and placed it along the edge of my green strip, as well as at random around the body of the green section.

Once everything was ready, I glued down the images onto my card front. When glueing things down you want to make sure you only use a thin layer of glue, otherwise, you risk warping the paper.  A small amount will go a long way.

Below, you can watch the process video of how this card came together:
